Tour
They say that Brazil is the country of Soccer, Samba,
and beautiful women. All this
is true, of course, but the country is made up of numerous other delights,
as well, large and small. From
the sunny beaches in the Northeast to the enchanting cold Gaucho plains,
Brazil offers tourists beautiful landscapes and a variety of climates.
Brazil is a diverse country. In the cold Southern region, Curitiba, the beautiful cosmopolitan
capital of Parana, serves traditional coffee on the Rua das Flores. On the island of Santa Catarina, a large part
of the population shows strong traces of their German, Swiss, and Norwegian
ancestry, while another part shows its brown skin on the beaches of the
capital, Florianopolis.
Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul, is the largest capital
of the region. The middle of the
state was the hub of Italian immigration.
The Gaucho plains show the magnificent landscapes of the cities
Canela and Gramado. Situated upwards
in the Southeast is the largest and greatest city in the country, Sao
Paulo, capital of the State of Sao Paulo.
Marvelous, sunny Rio de Janeiro is one of the world's
most well known tourist spots. One
of the most pleasant attractions here is the picturesque passage through
the most famous beaches in Brazil and in the world - Sao Conrado, Copacabana,
Leblon, and Ipanema, among others. Urca
Beach is the departure point for the famous Sugarloaf Mountain trolley. The Christ Monument, the city's symbolic postcard,
stands on top of Corcovado. Rio
de Janeiro is a party at night, but during the day a train trip along
part of the splendid Atlantic Tropical Forest is inviting.
In Vitoria, the capital of Espirito Santo, old monuments to the time of
the discovery of Brazil have resisted the inclemencies of the sea.
In the resort area of Guarapari, a trip on the Rodovia do Sol,
or Sun Highway, is a must, as well as a stop to taste "Capixaba Moqueca,"
a delicious seafood stew typical to the region.
Moving away from the coast and inward toward the middle
of the country, we come to Minas Gerais, with its churches and monumental
historic cities such as Sao Joao Del Rey, Ouro Preto, Diamantina, Tiradentes
and Mariana. The healing waters
of the city of Sao Lourenco and Caxambu are a must as well the virtual
journey to the center of the earth
in the caves of Maquiné.
In the Central Western Region, a visit to Brasilia is
recommended. The capital of the
country was built in the 70's and has been registered as a Cultural Humanity
Landmark by UNESCO. The city was
planned by city planner Lucio Costa and the monuments were created by
the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer.
Goiania, the capital of Goias, is nearby.
It is one of the major agricultural centers of the country.
In Mato Grosso the extraordinary Pantanal Swampland can be found.
An ecological sanctuary, it is one of the most astonishing regions
in the world, with a rich variety of flora and fauna.
This is where the Painted Leopard lives, along with capyvara, alligators,
and nail monkeys.
The Brazilian Northeast has already become a part of
the world tourist map. The beautiful
beaches, dunes, and palm trees make up the traditional landscape of relaxation.
The entire Northeastern coastline is pure pleasure, but the States
of Bahia, Ceara, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte are the most well
known, and the most prepared to welcome the flow of international visitors.
In the North of the country, a tour of the Amazon Rain Forest is not only
a simple journey, but an adventure full of unforgettable emotion.
Get to know part of the largest forest in the world.
Floating hotels, safe and comfortable, offer an opportunity for
the visitor to decipher part of the mysterious region, washed by the largest,
widest river in the world, the Amazon, with its 6,400 kilometers.
Another unforgettable attraction is the floating trip to Marajo
Island, with its river and ocean beaches.
In the cities of Belem, in Para, and Manaus, in Amazonas, an interesting
highlight is the peaceful coexistence between modern urban progress and
old fashioned Amazon customs and habits.
Clearly, Brazil is made up of various countries, cultures,
habits, and climates. This vast
nation includes an immense diversity that unites to form a grand and welcoming
nation.
